the Gladstone region which was built on the site of the second landing in Australia by James Cook and the crew of HM Bark Endeavour in May 1770. We visit the Captain Cook Monument and walk along the 1770 Butterfly Walk to view the thousands of magnificent blue tiger butterflies as they flock to the town during their migration. We reboard our aircraft and fly on to the central Queensland town of Rockhampton. A historically rich city, most famous for being the beef capital of Australia, Rockhampton is a modern throwback to the heydays of Queensland’s colonial past boasting heritage-listed streets and colonial buildings. Tour the limestone Capricorn Caves, which originated in an ancient 380-million-year-old coral reef and today are a maze of small tunnels and larger chambers. Visit Mt Archer National Park for outstanding views of the area and stand at the iconic Tropic of Capricorn. Overnight: Empire Hotel or similar Day 5 | Rockhampton - Mackay We fly on to Mackay today and tour this historic town that is set in the Pioneer Valley, home to lush coastal ranges and fertile plains. Fly on to Townsville, gateway to Queensland’s far north. A coastal city, Townsville is a vibrant mix of modern architecture and Federation-style buildings, bustling outdoor cafés, restaurants, boutiques and quirky galleries, all linked by a shady park-lined beach promenade. Overnight: The Ville Resort & Casino or similar Day 7 | Magnetic Island Today we take a day trip to the ruggedly stunning Magnetic Island. AlthoughMagnetic Island sits within theWorldHeritage- listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the landscape here is different to the usual tropical rainforest found on many nearby islands. Magnetic Island has less rainfall than other Queensland islands so it has a dry tropical climate and is covered with eucalypt woodlands. Day 1 | Arrive Adelaide Arrive into Adelaide and transfer to the Mayfair Hotel, Adelaide’s newest 5 star boutique hotel. Meet your Journey Director and fellow travellers at a welcome dinner tonight. Overnight: Mayfair Hotel or similar Day 2 | Adelaide - Coober Pedy After a city tour of Adelaide, board a private light aircraft for a spectacular f light north to land at Coober Pedy. Explore this colourful frontier township and learn of its interesting origins and lifestyle, as most of the locals have built their homes underground to escape the scorching summer temperatures. This afternoon we will enjoy a tour of Coober Pedy including an underground home and church, the opal fields and an opal mine. Tonight’s accommodation is at the famous Desert Cave Hotel. Overnight: Desert Cave Hotel or similar Day 3 | Coober Pedy - Parachilna Truly appreciate the unique landscape of this region as we board our small charter aircraft for spectacular aerial sightseeing over Coober Pedy and the majesty of Lake Eyre after a lunch stop at William Creek. Overnight: Prairie Hotel or similar
Day 4 | Parachilna After breakfast we learn why the area around Parachilna is so remarkable and important to the history of life on Earth. The local Ediacara fossils preserve an entire ecosystem, enabling scientists to understand what life on Earth was truly like in some of its earliest forms. Some fossils in the Ediacara deposits are unlike any creature alive today and led to the naming of the first new geological era in 120 years, the Ediacaran, from 630 to 542 million years ago, declared in 2004. Overnight: Prairie Hotel or similar Day 5 | Parachilna - Rawnsley Park The journey continues by air from Leigh Creek to the majesty of the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders are an insight into the depth of Australia’s geological history, extending back more than a billion years, with long-disappeared mountain ranges, beaches, tidal f lats, reefs and glacial moraines – the evidence remains in the rocks to this day. A highlight of today’s touring includes Wilpena Pound. The Pound rises as an immense, crater-like fusion of stark purple ridges and overhanging blues, strewn with tough and colourful vegetation, in jarring contrast to the f latness of the surrounding plains. We check in to Rawnsley Park, overlooking the southern side of Wilpena Pound. Rawnsley Park Station provides the perfect base for exploring South Australia’s beautiful Flinders Ranges. Overnight: Rawnsley Park or similar
Day 6 | Rawnsley Park Spend the day exploring the beautiful sights of the Flinders Ranges National Park. Home to some of the most fascinating ancient landforms on earth, it is also famous for its many and varied wildf lowers which sees native plant life carpeting the semi-arid landscape of the Ranges. Relax on the deck at your beautiful accommodation this evening and toast the magnificent sunset in this incredible corner of South Australia. Overnight: Rawnsley Park or similar Day 7 | Rawnsley Park - Barossa Valley This morning we enjoy a tour of Rawnsley Park including the working shearing shed where 2,000 South Australian Merino are run. More spectacular f lightseeing this afternoon as we f ly to Gawler in the Barossa Valley. We transfer to our multi-award winning luxury accommodation for two nights, The Louise, set amongst the vineyards. The wineries of the Barossa have received world acclaim. A visit to the area would not be complete without visiting some wineries to sample the local produce and for those who aren’t interested in wines, the gardens at each of the wineries are a delight to explore. Overnight: The Louise or similar Day 9 | Barossa Valley - Adelaide Today we return to Adelaide via the charming town of Hahndorf, the jewel of the Adelaide Hills. Considered one of South Australia’s most popular towns to visit, Hahndorf was originally a farming village of Lutheran settlers and is classified as the oldest surviving German settlement. We visit Ayers House Historic Home before heading to our hotel. Relax this afternoon before our farewell dinner this evening. Overnight: The Louise or similar Day 8 | Barossa Valley

The Pristine North West By Private Aircraft
Day 1 | Arrive Darwin Upon arrival in Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory and a former frontier outpost, your private transfer will take you to Mantra on the Esplanade. The balance of the day is at leisure to relax in your hotel overlooking the sparkling harbour or perhaps explore tropical Darwin and its fascinating history. From ancient Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and the pioneering spirit of the early settlers, to survival stories of WWII, the bombing of Darwin and Cyclone Tracy, Darwin’s history and heritage is vast, diverse and captivating in every way. This evening, join our Journey Director and fellow travellers at a welcome dinner. Overnight: Mantra on the Esplanade or similar Day 2 | Darwin - El Questro After breakfast we board our private aircraft for our flight along the East Kimberley coastline. Below us passes a land of breathtaking contrasts covering billions of years in history. Comprising in total over one million square kilometres, Australia’s North West is one of the last true wilderness areas on Earth. Known for sweeping landscapes defined by rugged ranges, dramatic gorges, semi-arid savanna and a largely isolated and spectacular coastline, the Kimberley is a sight to behold. We arrive at the El Questro Station strip and are then transferred via 4WD to our riverside accommodation. This evening, as vivid orange and pinks that paint not just the horizon but the whole sky appear, we discover why Western Australian sunsets are rated as some of the most beautiful in the world. Overnight: El Questro Station
Day 3 | El Questro Today we explore the remarkable bush culture and history that surrounds us. El Questro Wilderness Park extends for approximately 80 kmnorth-south and 60 kmeast-west, totalling one million acres in size. Its landscape offers outstanding diversity - from rugged sandstone ranges and broad tidal flats, to rainforest pockets, gorges and permanent waterfalls. One of Australia’s last frontiers, El Questro sits within what many consider to be the most spectacular rugged landscape on earth. This afternoon, we embark on a cruise through the Chamberlain Gorge. During the cruise we will enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, resident rock wallabies, Johnston crocodiles and the always cheeky Archer fish, which are all familiar inhabitants of the gorge. Relax on the peaceful return journey at dusk when the colours of the Kimberley shine on the towering cliffs. Overnight: El Questro Station Day 4 | El Questro - Berkeley River After a leisurely breakfast, the morning is yours to relax riverside or explore more of this fascinating property. After lunch, we re-board our aircraft and fly to Berkeley River Lodge. Be sure to look below as we fly northwest where the Cockburn Range comes into view. This spectacular range is very unique with its vertical cliff running the whole way around the range. We then cross the Pentecost River, home to many saltwater crocodiles. The flight takes in the Cambridge Gulf, used by ships to access the Port of Wyndham. Prior to landing, the Berkeley River and the Kimberley Coastline come into view. Berkeley River Lodge is nestled on the gentle curve of Joseph Bonaparte Gulf on Australia’s remote north Kimberley Coast,
a stone’s throw away from some of the most spectacular untouched coastal wilderness on earth. From your dune top villa, you are just a sandy-footed stroll away from pristine wildlife, rich bushland and secluded beaches, where the only frequent visitors are dolphins, dugongs and turtles. This evening, we enjoy a 4WD and cruise as the sun sets over the ocean in the west, transforming not only the sky but the water from pastel silvery blue to deep indigo. Spend the day taking in this extraordinary environment, one of the truly last touched frontiers. On a cruise of the Berkeley River, we will glide past towering rugged cliffs to the remotest freshwater swimming holes, stunning waterfalls and majestic gorges, where the peace and tranquillity is broken only by birdsong. Overnight: Berkeley River Lodge Day 6 | Berkeley River - Kununurra This morning you will have the opportunity to join an activity at the lodge before flying onto Kununurra.
